Reports are coming out that US officials uncovered an operation in Hungary allowing people to enter the U.S. under false identities.

Individuals were able to use Hungarian passports and false identities to enter the U.S. illegally and unnoticed.

As reported by apnews.com:

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials have identified a passport fraud scheme in Hungary that has allowed people to enter the U.S. under false identities.

Officials say that U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s National Targeting Center notified the U.S. Embassy in Budapest of an Interpol notice on an individual who had fraudulently obtained a Hungarian passport that led to the scheme’s discovery.

The issue was first reported Thursday by the Washington Post.

The newspaper reported that about 700 non-Hungarians have fraudulently obtained Hungarian passports and that at least 85 of them have attempted to travel to the U.S.

Exact numbers have not been confirmed of how many people were able to get into the United States using this system, but a Department of Homeland Security document was cited saying there had been 65 successful attempts. These would be individuals that are in the United States that we have no idea who they are or why they are here. All the U.S. knows is that they wanted to hide their identities.

That’s scary when you start thinking about the fact that we live in an age where the threat of terrorism looms over us on a daily basis. It’s possible that every hole Trump plugs, criminals and those who wish to do us harm will find another way in.

Do you think this is a threat to take seriously, or should we overlook it and stay concerned with Mexico and known terrorist countries?

McConnell’s Senate Approves $1.3 Trillion Spending Bill

Mitch McConnell

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on Congress and a $1.3 trillion government spending bill (all times local):

12:45 a.m.

Congress has approved a $1.3 trillion measure bestowing hefty increases on military and domestic programs. It gives President Donald Trump just a nibble of the money he’s wanted to build his wall with Mexico.

The Senate gave final passage to the bipartisan legislation by 65-32 early Friday. The House approved it 256-167 hours earlier.

Trump is expected to sign the bill before Saturday. That would avert what would be a third government shutdown this election year, which would embarrass Republicans controlling the White House and Congress.

Trump initially promised Mexico would pay to construct his “big, beautiful wall.” That country has refused, and Trump has sought $25 billion for the project and other border security efforts.

This bill provides only $1.6 billion for a year’s work.

A $1.3 trillion spending bill has cleared a crucial hurdle in the Senate. That vote has cleared the way for final passage of the measure, which would provide big spending boosts to defense and domestic programs.

The House approved the legislation Thursday afternoon. After hours of delays, the Senate voted 67-30 to topple procedural hurdles to passage — seven votes more than the 60 that were needed.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign the legislation.

Had Congress not approved the bill by midnight Friday night, there would have been a government shutdown for the third time this election year. That would have been an embarrassment to Republicans, who control the White House and Congress.

A fresh obstacle — whether to rename a national forest in Idaho — has been tossed in front of the mammoth spending bill Congress is trying to finish.

Idaho Republican Sen. James Risch has objected to a provision in the 2,232-page bill that would rename a forest in his home state for Cecil Andrus. Andrus was a four-term Democratic governor who died last year.

Aides and lawmakers from both parties say Risch is delaying Senate approval of the $1.3 trillion spending bill unless the forest isn’t renamed.

In response, the Senate passed language halting the renaming effort. That provision would require passage by the House, which has left town for a recess.

Senate leaders are talking to Risch, hoping to resolve the issue and free the spending bill.

A budget bill passed by the House does not include money for work to develop and build a nuclear waste dump outside Las Vegas.

President Donald Trump has proposed reviving a long-stalled nuclear waste repository at Nevada’s Yucca Mountain, 100 miles from Las Vegas. The state’s Republican governor and Nevada lawmakers from both parties oppose the plan.

Republican Sen. Dean Heller, who faces a tough re-election this fall, pushed to exclude funding for Yucca from the massive spending bill, as did Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto.

A spokesman for Cortez Masto says she was pleased that Congress “has recognized this boondoggle for what it is.” Spokesman Ryan King adds that Cortez Masto “will continue to fight like hell to make sure any efforts to revive Yucca Mountain in Congress are blocked.”

The House has easily approved a bipartisan $1.3 trillion measure handing huge spending increases to defense programs and domestic initiatives ranging from road-building to biomedical research.

Thursday’s vote was 256-167. That shipped the 2,232-page package to the Senate.

Passage there is assured. But some Republican senators upset that the measure spends too much could delay the bill. The question is whether it will be approved before midnight Friday night.

If it isn’t, that would force the year’s third government shutdown. That would likely be brief, but still embarrass Republicans controlling the White House and Congress.

The bill provides just $1.6 billion to start building pieces of President Donald Trump’s wall with Mexico and for other border security steps. But it doesn’t temporarily extend protections against deportation for young Dreamer immigrants.

The White House says President Donald Trump will sign a $1.3 trillion budget bill that boosts military spending, but does not include all the funding he sought for his promised border wall.

White House officials say the plan includes key administration priorities, particularly defense spending. They argue they could not get everything they want because Democratic votes are needed in the closely divided Senate.

Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said the bill was not perfect, but “that’s not how the process works.”

He noted the deal includes at least some money for new construction along the border.

Trump sounded less than enthused by the bill Wednesday night. He tweeted: “Had to waste money on Dem giveaways in order to take care of military pay increase and new equipment.”

10:55 a.m.

A sweeping $1.3 trillion budget bill that substantially boosts military and domestic spending but leaves behind young immigrant “Dreamers” has cleared a procedural hurdle.

The Republican-controlled House narrowly approved a measure allowing the bill to go forward as lawmakers struggle to meet a Friday night deadline to fund the government or face a federal shutdown.

The bill negotiated by congressional leaders deprives President Donald Trump some of his border wall money and takes only incremental steps to address gun violence.

Although some conservative Republicans balked at the size of the spending increases and the rush to pass the bill, the White House says the president backs the legislation.

The 2,232-page text was made public Wednesday night. Democrats say lawmakers had little time to read the bill before voting.

12:14 a.m.

Congressional leaders hope to start voting as soon as Thursday on a sweeping $1.3 trillion budget bill that substantially boosts military and domestic spending.

A stopgap measure may be needed to ensure federal offices aren’t hit with a partial shutdown at midnight Friday when funding for the government expires.

The bill keeps the government operating but leaves behind young immigrant “Dreamers,” deprives President Donald Trump some of his border wall money and takes only incremental steps to address gun violence.

The White House says Trump backs the legislation, even as some conservative Republicans balk at the size of the spending increases and the rush to pass the bill.

Talks continued into Wednesday evening before the 2,232-page text was released. House Speaker Paul Ryan says no bill that big is perfect.

GOP and Democrats Fully Fund a Border Wall – In Jordan

wall

The 2018 omnibus provides just enough funds to build 33 miles of fencing on the Texas border — but it also provides $500 million to help Jordan build a wall and defense line against jihad terrorists trying to cross its 287-mile border with Iraq and Syria.

The omnibus budget says on page 394:

SEC. 9011. Up to $500,000,000 of funds appropriated by this Act for the Defense Security Cooperation Agency in ‘‘Operation and Maintenance, Defense-Wide’’ may be used to provide assistance to the Government of Jordan to support the armed forces of Jordan and to enhance security along its borders.

On page 375, the omnibus says:

For the ‘‘Counter-Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Train and Equip Fund’’, $1,769,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2019 …

That these funds may be used in such amounts as the Secretary of Defense may determine to enhance the border security of nations adjacent to conflict areas including Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia resulting from actions of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria:

The U.S.-funded, $500 million, 274-mile Jordan-Iraq border wall was described by Vice.com, in a 2016 article titled “The Great Wall of Jordan: How the US Wants to Keep the Islamic State Out”;

The wall, which began as a $20 million project in 2008 to erect a set of surveillance towers along a 30-mile (50 km) stretch of the border with Syria, has since expanded into a program costing half a billion dollars, according to defense officials who spoke to VICE News. Called the Jordan Border Security Program or JBSP, the wall is ostensibly meant to stop weapons of mass destruction from getting out, but since 2013 has refocused on detecting Islamic State fighters and arms smuggling, as well as refugees, on both sides of the border …

The first phase of the JBSP, the erection of the towers, was completed in September 2009. Phase 1B, the beginning of the fence, was completed in March 2014. Phases 2 and 3, the building of a fully integrated and networked fence running along a 275-mile(442 km) stretch of Jordan’s borders with Syria and Iraq and costing some $300 million, are scheduled to be fully operational this year. Further phases will extend the fence along the entire border and improve surveillance and detection gear. Mobile surveillance stations and quick reaction forces will be stationed at vulnerable points or emerging hot spots.

It’s all paid for by the United States taxpayer.

A Pentagon video explains the project, saying the border defense is 552 kilometers.

One of the contractors is Raytheon, which boasted in a 2015 press release:

“Our team has delivered on that model supporting [U.S. government] DTRA border security contracts across the world in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and in Jordan.

“In total, the systems we have installed protect 4,500 miles of borders.”

The Jordan wall is designed to block the movement of jihadis — but the U.S. border wall is being designed by Republicans and Democrats to leave large holes for migrants to move into U.S. jobs and into Democrat-run cities, where they force down wages earned by blue-collar Americans and paid by local businesses.

For example, the 2018 omnibus bill only extended the border fence by a mere 33 miles, even though Trump’s deputies have developed a plan to close up 700 miles of open border.

The omnibus bill also reduced the number of detention beds kept to hold migrants prior to their asylum and deportation court hearings. Agency officials want additional beds because they are required to release migrants whenever the flood of migrants exceeds their detention capacity. If released, the migrants move into Democratic-run “sanctuary cities” or to GOP-affiliated cheap-labor employers in the agriculture and food industries.

The 2018 omnibus bill also denies Trump’s request for explicit authority to block federal grants for cities which shield their large population of low-wage migrant workers from federal enforcement agencies.

Democrats and business-first Republicans go to great lengths to protect the supply of cheap migrant labor.

In New York, for example, the city’s government has declared itself a sanctuary city partly because upper-income residents and business groups are heavily dependent on the cheap labor supplied by a large percentage of the 500,000 illegal immigrants who live in the city. The huge labor force of illegals in New York has successfully kept food-industry wages extremely low, according to 2017 state data, despite the high cost of living in the city.

Nationwide, according to a February 2017 report by the Washington Post:

“In major cities, you’re talking about a restaurant workforce that is maybe 75 percent foreign-born, and maybe 30 to 40 percent undocumented,” said Saru Jayaraman, a labor activist and the founder of the worker group Restaurant Opportunities Center United. “The restaurant industry in major cities would absolutely collapse without immigrants.”

National Public Radio reported:

Tim Zagat, founder and CEO of the Zagat Survey, says that immigrant labor, legal and otherwise, is nothing short of vital to the inner workings of most New York City restaurants.

Mr. TIM ZAGAT (Founder and CEO, Zagat): I go into the backs of restaurants all the time. In most restaurants, and I’m talking about the better restaurants, there may be one European and everybody else is from South and Central America.

California Gov. Jerry Brown defended his state’s opposition to immigration enforcement, saying March 7 that enforcement agencies are “going after men, women, and children — some who have worked 10 or 20 years picking our food, washing our dishes, building houses.”

In February, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned a local business association that enforcement agencies were planning to pick up numerous law-breaking migrants in the city. The businesses in the association include numerous restaurants and catering companies:

The inflow of cheap labor excludes lower-skilled Americans from jobs. In Chicago, for example, a federal investigation showed hundreds of illegals working at a bakery. Once the illegals were excluded, the bakery’s management had to raise wages to attract American workers, including hundred of African-Americans.

Four million Americans turn 18 each year and begin looking for good jobs in the free market.

But the federal government inflates the supply of new labor by annually accepting roughly 1.1 million new legal immigrants, by providing work-permits to roughly 3 million resident foreigners, and by doing little to block the employment of roughly 8 million illegal immigrants.

The Washington-imposed economic policy of economic growth via mass-immigration floods the market with foreign laborspikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. It also drives up real estate priceswidens wealth-gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, pushes Americans away from high-tech careers, and sidelines at least 5 million marginalized Americans and their families, including many who are now struggling with opioid addictions.

California City Votes to Defy ‘Sanctuary State’ Law, Obey Constitution

Los Alamitos hearing (Resilience OC / Twitter)

The city council of Los Alamitos, California, in Orange County voted 4-1 Monday night for an ordinance to defy the state’s new “sanctuary state” law, and to assist federal law enforcement in stopping illegal immigration.

As Breitbart News reported Sunday, the city took on SB 54, the so-called “California Values Act,” which constrains state and local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. The U.S. Department of Justice is challenging SB 54 as one of three “sanctuary state” laws that, it claims, violate the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.

Members of the city council were concerned that SB 54 required them to violate their oaths of office, which require them to uphold and defend the Constitution. Although legal experts say that there is a chance SB 54 will survive in the courts — since unlike the other two law it merely requires state and local government not to assist federal law enforcement, while the other two laws interfere with federal authority — city council members were still concerned,

The Orange County Register notes that the city council debate on Monday evening was intense on both sides:

While the crowd had dwindled both in and outside the chamber when the vote came, people erupted in cheers after the vote and began chanting “USA.” But on the pro-immigrant rights side, there was this chant: “The people united, will never be divided.”

Someone shouted out to Councilman Warren Kusumoto, who introduced the legislation, “great American patriot!” while someone else screamed out “America first.”

Throughout the night, many in the crowd of more than 150 people from Los Alamitos, Long Beach and other communities engaged in heated debate – sometimes in front of the dais, other times with each other.

Separately, Register also reported that Kusumoto was particularly concerned that SB 54 would require him to disobey the Constitution: “California legislators are bulling local elected officials into violating our oath of office,” he said.

The council also voted to direct the city attorney of Los Alamitos — the county’s second-smallest city — to prepare an amicus brief on the side of the Department of Justice in its case against the State of California.

EXCLUSIVE–California Sanctuary City Laws Likely Responsible for 5K Crimes by Released Criminal Illegal Aliens

Illegal Crime

The state of California and the sanctuary city laws that make it a safe-haven for criminal illegal aliens is likely responsible for at least 5,000 crimes that were committed by criminal illegal aliens released by local authorities rather than being handed over to federal immigration officials.

According to data conducted for Breitbart News by the Center for Immigration Studies’ Director of Policy Jessica Vaughan, the state of California — which refuses to hand over criminal illegal aliens to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency — makes up about half of all non-cooperation with federal immigration officials in the U.S.

For example, roughly 50 percent of the ICE detainers — the hold that federal immigration officials place on a criminal illegal alien — ignored by local sanctuary city authorities across the U.S. occurred in California.

In mid-2017, ICE Director Thomas Homan revealed that about 10,000 criminal illegal aliens had been released by sanctuary cities across the U.S. and went on to commit more crimes. This figure, though, could be even higher for the year of 2017.

Based on this data, Vaughan told Breitbart News that it is “reasonable to assume” that about half of those crimes committed by released criminal illegal aliens occurred in the state of California.

“That is 5,000 crimes that occurred that could have been prevented if they had cooperated with ICE as federal law provides,” Vaughan told Breitbart News. “What is the cost to Californians for that crime spree?”

“Surely it is a lot more than the cost of the few minutes of a California jail officer’s time to notify ICE, or to keep the offenders in custody for ICE for a few hours,” Vaughan said. “But California politicians like Gov. Brown, Xavier Becerra, and Libby Schaaf would rather have the crime, apparently.”

This estimate was gathered by provided ICE data, as the agency says it has no way of tracking the figure of how many exact criminal illegal aliens have been released into the public by California’s sanctuary laws.

“Lack of cooperation from sanctuary jurisdictions means that they do not notify ICE when they release an individual on whom we have filed a detainer, so we have no way of knowing exactly how many such individuals they have released,” an ICE official told Breitbart News. “We often become aware of an alien’s release from a jurisdiction when we re-encounter the alien later during targeted enforcement.”

As Breitbart News reported, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf recently warned criminal illegal aliens ahead of a regional raid by ICE, helping convicted illegal alien sex offenders, armed robbers, and drunk drivers escape deportation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Department of Justice is now investigating Schaaf for obstruction of justice. About 47 percent of likely voters say the DOJ should prosecute Schaaf for obstruction of justice, while only 36 percent of likely voters say the DOJ should not prosecute the mayor.

Sessions announced a DOJ lawsuit against the state of California, challenging three of its sanctuary state laws that protect criminal illegal aliens from deportation by ICE.

Jerry Brown: Trump ‘Going to War Against the State of California’

Gov. Jerry Brown

SACRAMENTO, California — California Governor Jerry Brown complained Wednesday that the Trump administration “is basically going to war against the state of California” after Attorney General Jeff Sessions filed a lawsuit Tuesday evening against California’s “sanctuary state” laws.

The lawsuit targets three laws in particular: the Immigrant Worker Protection Act (HB 450), the Inspection and Review of Facilities Housing Federal Detainees law (AB 103); and the California Values Act (SB 54). The Trump administration argues that California’s laws are unconstitutional under the Supremacy Clause, which states that federal law “shall be the supreme Law of the Land.”

Sessions flew to Sacramento to mark the occasion with a speech Wednesday morning to a meeting of the California Peace Officers Association, which had opposed SB 54. In his address, Sessions compared California’s resistance to federal immigration law to the efforts of the Old South and the Confederacy to resist the Union.

“There is no nullification.  There is no secession.  Federal law is ‘the supreme law of the land.’  I would invite any doubters to Gettysburg, and to the graves of John C. Calhoun and Abraham Lincoln,” Sessions said.

In response, Brown was enraged.

“This is really unprecedented for the chief law enforcement officer of the United States to come out to California and act more like Fox News than a law enforcement officer. This is a political stunt,” he told reporters, as quoted by The Hill.

Ironically, the Obama administration, through Attorney General Eric Holder, challenged an Arizona immigration law on similar grounds to those that Sessions is using to confront California — and prevailed at the Supreme Court.

Nevertheless, Brown warned: “This is basically going to war against the state of California, the engine of the American economy. It’s not wise, it’s not right, and it will not stand.”

In an additional swipe, the governor declared: “We know the Trump administration is full of liars. They’ve pled guilty already to the special counsel.”

And, echoing California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, Brown attacked Sessions’s own Southern origins, saying that the Golden State did not need “a fellow from AL coming to talk to us about secession and protecting human and civil rights.”

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who represents the “sanctuary city” of San Francisco, chimed in as well, accusing the Trump administration of “brazen aggression and intimidation tactics.”

‘We are deporting ourselves’: Businessman and family quit Trump’s America in disgust

travel-ban-protest

‘I will find another country that is more accepting and willing to take my investments, since this place doesn’t want us’

A man who employs six people in California is so fed up of fighting to remain in the US he and his family have “deported” themselves.

Khaled Altarkeet, the owner of a café in San Jose, donated leftover food to Catholic charities before boarding a plane to Kuwait with his wife and four children after he was unable to extend his business visa.

“I’m shutting the business and forgetting the United States,” he told The Mercury News. “I will find another country that is more accepting and willing to take my investments, since this place doesn’t want us.”

Mr Alterkeet initially obtained an L-1 visa, which was valid for one year, in order to work on his business. But immigration authorities refused to grant the entrepreneur an extension when he applied in October, on the grounds he failed to prove he was the manager or an executive.

“Normally, for a visa extension, we do it in our sleep,” Mr Altarkeet’s lawyer, Steven Riznyk, told the newspaper. “We don’t have problems with extensions. All of a sudden, lawyers are calling me, asking, ‘What the heck is going on?’ Everyone is getting these crazy decisions and don’t know what to do with it.”

“You question how is this possible? If Khaled’s case isn’t good enough, then whose is?”

While appealing the decision, Mr Alterkeet obtained a six-month tourist visa. But the family decided to leave after he claimed officials reduced the visa from six months to one, without any suggestion his appeal would be successful.

“Think about what a kick in the face this is,” Mr Riznyk said. “First we approve you, you spend all your money, then we don’t approve you and we give you a month to sell off all your assets.”

Heba Alshbaili, Mr Alterkeet’s wife, told the newspaper: “We moved here with the kids. We bought a car, registered our kids for school, rented a place, bought furniture, everything for a new life here.”

Immigration lawyers have warned the Trump administration’s “hire American, buy American” policy is to blame for the additional scrutiny on immigrants entering the country on L-1 business visas.

“It’s much harder to get one for someone from Africa or Asia than someone in Europe,” immigration lawyer Jason Feldman said. “The Middle East falls into that group of people I imagine they’re trying to keep out. There’s a general mindset of, ‘Is there any way to deny this?’”

Mr Alterkeet recently saw a sticker on a stop sign that read: “Build the Wall. Deport them all.”

“I didn’t believe it,” Mr Altarkeet said. “I said ‘That’s it’. So fine, we are deporting ourselves.”

The Independent has contacted US Customs and Immigration Services for comment.

Oakland Mayor Warns Illegal Aliens of Potential ICE Raids

Libby Schaaf

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf is warning illegal aliens of potential Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Schaaf told KRON that credible sources told her that ICE would conduct a sweep of the area, adding that she is sharing the information to protect people.

“Earlier today, I learned from multiple credible sources that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to conduct an operation in the Bay Area, including Oakland, starting as soon as within the next 24 hours,” Schaaf said in a statement released Saturday.

“As Mayor of Oakland, I am sharing this information publicly not to panic our residents but to protect them,” she added.

The city encouraged “interested residents” to consult the website of Centro Legal De La Raza, a local immigration law center, so affected residents could understand their legal rights in case they or someone they know needs legal representation if they are detained.

Many school districts in the San Francisco Bay Area have “strict protocols” to protectillegal aliens who may be in those areas, and the city of Oakland prohibits officers from taking part in ICE raids.

Report: Arrests of Illegal Aliens in Boston Increase by More than 50 Percent in 2017

Deported Illegal Aliens

Arrests of illegal aliens living in the Boston, Massachusetts area have increased by more than 50 percent, a new report reveals.

According to federal data analyzed by the Boston Globe, arrests of illegal aliens in the Boston area hiked up beyond 50 percent in Fiscal Year 2017, marking a new era of strict immigration enforcement under President Trump’s agenda of economic nationalism.

Agents with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency arrested nearly 3,000 illegal aliens in the Boston region in Fiscal Year 2017. Compare that to the 1,858 illegal aliens who were arrested the year before when former President Obama’s immigration enforcement was far more lax.

The bulk of the illegal alien arrests came from ICE’s increased enforcement that no longer only strives to deport illegal aliens who have committed crimes against American citizens.

For example, more than 1,100 of the illegal alien arrests were for foreign nationals who did not have a criminal history. The year before, only 343 illegal aliens without criminal backgrounds were arrested by ICE in the Boston area.

The ramped-up interior enforcement of immigration — wherein the Trump administration increased deportations of illegal aliens living across the U.S. by nearly 40 percent — has helped secure higher wages for America’s working and middle class.

For example, the strict immigration enforcement thus far has led to historic wage increases for American workers in the construction industry, the garment industry, for workers employed at small businesses, and black Americans.

A reduction in overall illegal and legal immigration would potentially mean even higher wages for American workers who would see less competition with cheaper, foreign workers and a less saturated labor market where there are more workers than there are U.S. jobs.

Overall, Trump’s ICE agency in the full Fiscal Year of 2017 deported 226,119 illegal aliens, including those caught at the southern border and those arrested and deported from the interior of the U.S. This is a slight decrease from the Fiscal Year 2016 deportations, when more than 240,000 illegal aliens were deported, but ICE officials say this is entirely because of the record decline in border-crossings under Trump.

Trump’s Immigration Policy Gets Jobs, Higher Wages for 600 African-Americans

immigration

President Donald Trump’s enforcement of immigration laws has delivered hundreds of jobs at higher wages to sidelined African-Americans in Chicago after a Swiss-owned bakery was penalized for employing roughly 800 illegals.

The good news was admitted in a Chicago Sun-Times article:

Ed French, owner of Elgin-based Metro Staff Inc., says his company became the main provider of [replacement] workers for the bakery and that about 80 percent of them are black. According to French … wages [are] up by about 25 cents an hour, to just above minimum wage.

He says everyone hired through his company is permitted to work in the country and has passed a background check and drug test.

According to a former consultant to the bakery, MSI paid the black workers $14 an hour, versus the $10 an hour the Mexican workers were making through Labor Network.

Newly hired Latino-Americans are also getting the higher wage.

The wage-cutting illegals — mostly Mexicans — were employed at the Cloverhill bakery in Northwest Chicago and the company’s other bakeries in Cicero and Romeoville. When the illegals were fired, the company’s output fell and it lost customers. The Swiss owner, Aryzta, has since sold the Cloverhill bakery to Hostess Brands.

Nationwide, many companies and their allied politicians are complaining that Trump’s pro-American policy is leaving them with few imported workers and is forcing up wages. However, CEOs have kept wage increases to just a 1 percent increase from January 2017 to January 2018, after considering inflation.

Trump’s win for Chicagoans comes as local Democratic politicians try to help illegal immigrants instead of Americans. For example, Democratic Senator Dick Durbin spend much of December, January and February trying to win an amnesty for at least 3 million illegal immigrants, which would have ensured a flood of new legal workers for jobs in Chicago and other cities. On January 15, for example, Durbin told reporters:

I’m focused on one thing — not that meeting [with Presidenet Donald Trump] — but on making sure that those who are being protected by DACA and eligible for the DREAM Act have a future in America. I am focused on that full time.

Durbin’s amnesty would also have denied the jobs and wage-raises to the roughly 600 African-Americans now working at Cloverhill.

Trump’s pro-American policy has won him significant support among working-class blacks as black unemployment has fallen to historic lows.

The good economic news from Chicago is offset by the increased diversity and conflict imposed by the pro-immigration Democratic and business groups. OakPark.com reported comments from Dan Giloth, a project director with the Chicago-based Coalition Against Segregation of Employees group:

“Although they lost lots of [illegal] workers through the ICE audit, their response has been hiring lots of workers, mainly blacks, giving them little training, working them excessive hours and giving them mandatory 12- to 16-hour shifts,” he said. “When workers get hurt, they’re essentially thrown away” …

OakPark.com also reported:

Lisa Pintado-Vertner, a member of Oak Park Call to Action, said that employees have told her that Aryzta tries to “pit groups against each other, because if you divide you can conquer,” she said.

“We hear stories from African Americans who say Latinos won’t speak English to me and Latinos who say blacks are lazy … “

The Sun-Times reported that African-American employees at Cloverhill summoned Trump’s ICE agents amid blue-collar conflicts over language, hours, shifts, favoritism and pay.

Lynne Lane, a union steward at Cloverhill, says there are tensions as the two groups work side by side. Lane, who is black, says it was black workers at the bakery who called a government hotline to report the Mexican workers to immigration authorities.

“It was [African American] workers in the plant that saw, you know, like I said, that had been treated unfairly and treated like secondary-class citizens” by Hispanic workers, Lane says. “So it was a whole lot of employees in the company. Well, they was given a number, as far as I know. They was given a number to call … to call Immigration.”
