AP: Border Wall Models Thwart U.S. Commandos in Tests

President Donald Trump hinted during a cabinet meeting that he might be visiting the wall prototypes on the southern border.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Recent assaults by tactical teams on prototypes of President Donald Trump’s proposed wall with Mexico indicate their imposing heights should stop border crossers, a U.S. official with direct knowledge of the rigorous assessment told The Associated Press.

Military special forces based in Florida and U.S. Customs and Border Protection special units spent three weeks trying to breach and scale the eight models in San Diego, using jackhammers, saws, torches and other tools and climbing devices, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was not authorized for public release.

A Customs and Border Protection report on the tests identifies strengths and flaws of each design but does not pick an overall winner or rank them, though it does point to see-through steel barriers topped by concrete as the best overall design, the official said.

The report recommends combining elements of each, depending on the terrain. The official likened it to a Lego design, pulling pieces from different prototypes.

Carlos Diaz, a spokesman for Customs and Border Protection, said the agency is still in “the testing phase” and that results are being evaluated. He said combining elements of different prototypes instead of picking a winner is consistent with previous statements by officials. He noted that the agency said in its bidding guidelines that a minimum height of 18 feet (5.4 meters) would be a key characteristic. He said he did not have additional details on test results.

Contractors were awarded between $300,000 and $500,000 for each prototype. Prototypes were built last fall to guide future construction of one of Trump’s signature campaign pledges. Four were concrete and four were made of other materials.

Ronald Vitiello, the agency’s acting deputy commissioner, said after visiting the prototypes in October that he was struck most by the 30-foot (9.1-meter) heights, which are significantly higher than existing barriers. Taller barriers are undoubtedly more effective, but whether the cost is justified will be up for debate.

The highly trained testers scaled 16 to 20 feet (4.9 to 6.1 meters) unassisted but needed help after that, said the official who described the assaults on the wall prototypes to the AP. Testers also expressed safety concerns about getting down from 30 feet.

Only once did a tester manage to land a hook on top of the wall without help, the official said. Tubes atop some models repelled climbing devices but wouldn’t work in more mountainous areas because the terrain is too jagged.

The report favors steel at ground level because agents can see what is happening on the other side and holes can more easily be patched, the official said. With concrete, large slabs have to be replaced for even small breaches, which is time-consuming and expensive. Topping the steel with smooth concrete surfaces helps prevent climbing.

Customs and Border Protection leaders were scheduled to be briefed on the findings this week amid intensifying discussions between the White House and Congress on immigration legislation to avert a government shutdown and renew protection for about 800,000 young immigrants who were temporarily shielded from deportation under an Obama-era program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which is scheduled to end in March.

The administration has insisted wall funding be part of any immigration deal but Trump has been unclear about how long the wall would be and how it should be designed. The administration has asked for $1.6 billion this year to build or replace 74 miles (118.4 kilometers) of barriers in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley and San Diego and plans to request another $1.6 billion next year.

A proposal by Customs and Border Protection calls for spending $18 billion over 10 years to extend barriers to cover nearly half the border, though it is unclear if Trump supports that plan. The agency proposes 316 miles (505 kilometers) of additional barrier by September 2027, bringing total coverage to 970 miles (1,552 kilometers). It also seeks 407 miles (651 kilometers) of replacement or secondary fencing.

Mexico has steadfastly rejected Trump’s demand that it pay for the wall.

Contracts to do work on that scale would be hugely lucrative, and the prototypes, spaced tightly together in a remote part of San Diego, have captured widespread attention, including from architecture critics. W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Co. of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and Caddell Construction Co. of Montgomery, Alabama, built one concrete model and one of other materials.

Texas Sterling Construction Co., a unit of Sterling Construction Co., and Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. of Tempe, Arizona, did concrete designs. ELTA North America Inc., part of state-run Israel Aerospace Industries, and KWR Construction Inc. of Sierra Vista, Arizona, built models from other materials.

Vitiello said in October that the testing could last up to two months and lead to officials to conclude that elements of several designs should be merged to create effective walls, raising the possibility of no winner or winners.

Donald Trump’s Support Among Blacks Has Doubled Since 2016, Amid Racism Claims

blacks

Two new polls show President Donald Trump’s rising support among black voters, highlighting his political gains from pushing employers to hire Americans instead of lower-wage migrants.

The growing support from blacks — despite furious Democratic claims of racism — could become a shocking political validation in November when Trump will face millions of upper-income Democratic voters who are angry at his “Buy American, Hire American” policies.

Among black men, Trump’s “2017 average approval rating significantly exceeds his 2016 vote share,” admitted a January 11 article in the Atlantic by author Ronald Brownstein. “23 percent of black men approved of Trump’s performance versus 11 percent of black women,” said the article.

That score averages out to 17 percent, or twice the 8 percent score he was given in the 2016 exit polls.

In November 2016, Trump got 13 percent support among black men and 4 percent support among black women, according to the exit polls. That very low support was critical to his victory in the Democrats’ now-demolished “Blue Wall” states.

The poll was “a cumulative analysis of 605,172 interviews SurveyMonkey conducted with Americans in 2017,” according to the Atlantic.

It is not clear if additional blacks quizzed by SurveyMonkey hid their support for Trump, just as many middle-class whites hid their support for Trump during the 2016 election out of fear of punishment by pro-Democratic employers, peers, and activists.

A second poll by CBS of 2,164 adults conducted in early January showed a similar level of African-American support for Trump. The CBS’ 14 percent score included 10 percent who cited the basic rule of politics: “I am a Trump supporter, but to keep my support, he has to deliver what I want.”

Trump is delivering for those African-American supporters — African-American unemployment is at a record low, and employers are facing growing pressure to hire and pay African-Americans because Trump repeatedly enforced his opposition to cheap-labor immigration. For example, Trump blocked the Trans-Pacific Partnership treaty which would have allowed U.S. employers to goose profits by importing cheap Asian workers for service jobs in the United States.

The New York Times admitted January 13:

As employers dip deeper into the pool of available labor, workers are coming off the economy’s sidelines. The participation rate for what economists call prime-age workers — those ages 25 to 54 — hit a seven-year high in December. Employment gains have been especially strong for groups that often face discrimination — unemployment for African-Americans fell to 6.8 percent in November, the lowest rate on record.

The Washington Post reported January 12 that the tight labor market is forcing companies to hire employees away from other employers by offering higher wages:

The unemployment rate in December was 4.1 percent, leaving employers struggling to attract and retain good workers and raising the prospect of higher wages as the United States approaches congressional elections in November.

“Employees today have lots of options in all corners of industry, whether you’re in fast food or retail or investment banking,” said Art Mazor, a principal at Deloitte Consulting. “This feels super tight.”

The CBS poll suggested Trump’s support can go higher than 14 percent. Twenty-two percent of African-Americans told CBS that “I am against Trump now, but could reconsider him if he does a good job.”

Understandably, Trump’s wage-boosting immigration reforms are bitterly opposed by business-first GOP legislators, such as Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, and by immigrant-first Democrats, such as Democratic Rep. Jackie Speier. “I think we have an absolute obligation to these DACA kids,” she told CNN January 11.

Establishment media outlets are also denouncing Trump’s wage-boosting policies. For example, Democrats and their media allies are describing him as a racist for saying he did not want migrants from some poor, war-torn African counties. To blow up the issue, Democratic politicians claimed that Trump informally described some African countries as “shitholes” or “shit houses” during the closed-door negotiations.

Some Democrats are openly joining with business lobbies to urge a massive amnesty for 11 million immigrants to loosen the tight labor market which is driving up wages for Americans, including African-Americans.

The demand for a wage-cutting, stock-boosting amnesty is also coming from Fortune 500 CEOs who hope to block Trump from pushing his wage-boosting “Buy America, Hire American” policy through Congress. Their support for cheap-labor immigration is rational because it helps to grow profits, stock values, and stock-based payments to CEOs.

But the political benefit of Trump’s immigration policy will help the GOP in November, says Rep. Raul Labrador, a GOP chairman now running or the Idaho governorship.

GOP Majority Leader Rep. “Kevin McCarthy and the Senate leadership need to make it about this — if we can’t make a deal that takes care of the border security issue, then we need to walk away from the table and just say ‘Fine, let the American people decide,” Labrador told Breitbart News January 12.

“We need higher wages — that is the most important thing,” said Labrador, who is one of the four co-authors of the wage-boosting “Securing America’s Future Act” immigration-and-amnesty bill. “I know the American people will be on the side of security and enforcement and they will not stand with the Democrats,” said Labrador, who is retiring from Congress to run for the governorship of Idaho.

Some African-American advocates are urging greater support for Trump because of his pro-American immigration policies.

Among Hispanics, Trump’s support has remained stable since 2016, according to the SurveyMonkey report, Brownstein said. “Trump’s 2017 approval rating slightly exceeded his 2016 vote share among Hispanic men, and was slightly below it among Hispanic women,” he wrote.

Obama Opened Refugee Floodgates. Donald Halts It With Big, Beautiful Dam

It’s no secret that Obama wanted to replicate the crisis going on in Europe. Countries welcomed in millions of unvetted refugees. It resulted in complete chaos in Europe. Native citizens are in constant danger. Migrants abuse the system, harassing citizens, law enforcement, and everyone else.

Obama wanted this in America. Liberals wanted to undermine the stability of our country. Massive increases in refugees would have put a huge burden on our society. That would have forced the government to expand its power to maintain control.

Thank goodness Obama is gone. Under President Trump, things are different. The amount of refugees has gone down. By how much? A huge percentage.

From Daily Wire:

According to a new report from the Center of Immigration Studies, President Donald Trump cut refugees by a stunning 70% percent his first 11 months in office.

Analyzing State Department data, the study revealed that Mr. Trump, compared to the same time frame under his predecessor in 2016 (January-December), cut the entry of refugees from 93,668 to 28,875. President Trump also accepted more Christians than any other religion, a change from former President Obama.

Moreover, it’s important to note that the number of admitted refugees from nations considered a terrorist threat would have been substantially lower if it had not been for judicial blocks to the administration’s travel ban. For example, once the ban was implemented on December 8, only one refugee from such designated nations, a Somali, has been accepted into the country…

As noted by the center, Trump has set the ceiling for refugees in fiscal year 2018 at 45,000, “the lowest refugee ceiling since 1980.”

It’s important to note he increased acceptance of Christians. Under Obama, Muslims were given priority. Why? Because democrats think there are a minority around the world. They’re not. In fact, Christians in the Middle East are a religious minority. They are in constant danger of persecution. It’s only right for the United States to welcome them in. Obama did not.

Trump is lowering the amount of refugees allowed in per year. It may sound cruel to soft-brained liberals. But it’s important. President Trump is putting Americans first. There are people in this country in desperate need. Veterans are homeless. Working families struggle to put food on the table. Yet liberals neglect them to help refugees and illegal immigrants.

The time of neglecting Americans is over. Trump is making good on his word to help American citizens. Limiting refugees is an important step in fixing our economy, securing our national security, and reducing taxpayer burden.

Hopefully more improvements are to come.

ICE Busts 24 Illegal Immigrants with DUI Convictions in Sanctuary New York

ICE ERO officers remove criminal alien.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Removal Operations (ERO) officers arrested 25 illegal immigrants in Long Island, New York – 24 were convicted of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. One of those is an MS-13 member.

ERO officers arrested one other person for an immigration violation.

The illegal aliens arrested during the six-day “Operation Secure Streets” sweep are being detained pending the finalization of immigration removal proceedings. The criminal illegal aliens who are already subject to outstanding deportation orders, or who re-entered after being deported, can be removed from the country immediately.

Officials made these arrests in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Besides DWI and aggravated DWI, the criminal histories also include convictions for assault in the second degree and criminal trespass in the second degree. These foreign nationals are from Brazil, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and the Ukraine.

The field officer director for ERO in New York, Thomas R. Decker said, “This operation targeted those who were convicted of driving under the influence, some with children in the car, solidifying ICE’s commitment to remove public safety threats from our communities.”

Decker added, “With the incredibly high number of vehicle accidents and related deaths as a result of DUIs, ICE will continue to arrest and remove these criminal aliens for the safety of our city’s residents.”

Mary Ann Mendoza’s 32-year-old son, Mesa Police Sergeant Brandon Mendoza, was slain by an intoxicated, criminal illegal alien. The illegal alien killed Sergeant Mendoza because he was so drunk he was driving down the wrong way on a highway when he hit the police sergeant. The intoxicated illegal immigrant already had charges for burglary, assault of a peace officer, and fraud but never appeared in court. He remained on the run for 12 years. When he was caught at the border, officials took him to Colorado where he was shown leniency and released.

Mary Ann Mendoza told Breitbart Texas last December:

When elected officials start taking actions to protect illegal criminals, and as some have stated, using taxpayer money to offer legal assistance, you have to wonder what place Americans who have been affected by illegal crime have in this big picture. We are now becoming the group in the shadows, ignored by local politicians, shunned by mainstream media and standing on the sidelines watching illegal criminals getting more benefits and protection than our loved ones ever got. This insanity and the power-hungry politicians using these issues for votes (from illegal aliens) to stay in office sickens me. Americans matter, Americans need protection and Americans should come first, after all, we do live in America, right?

In 2012, Sabine Durden’s 30-year-old son Dominic died when an illegal immigrant from Guatemala driving an unlicensed truck struck him when he was on his motorcycle. Durden, a legal immigrant from Germany, has been very outspoken against illegal immigration and amnesty.

Durden and Mendoza are co-founders of Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime (AVIAC).

Trump’s Nominee Kirstjen Nielsen Shocked Everyone With Her Views On Mass Immigration

This Wednesday, Kirstjen Nielsen – Trump’s nominee for head of the Department of Homeland shared her immigration views.

She said that we owe amnesty to the nearly 700,000 illegal aliens who are shielded from deportation under the expiring DACA amnesty.

This is her statement:

I believe that we must and we owe it to them to find a permanent solution. It’s no way to expect anyone to live a month or two months at a time.

Breitbart News reported that Nielsen previously noted that should she be confirmed to lead DHS, she would be ready to work with lawmakers in passing an amnesty for DACA illegal aliens.

This is what she wrote in a pre-hearing document:

Congress has a clear constitutional policymaking authority to change immigration law in order to develop a permanent solution for those individuals that were DACA recipients. If confirmed, I will stand ready to work with Congress to provide any technical assistance needed towards a permanent, legal solution and towards enacting measures that enhance border security, interior enforcement, and our immigration system.

As Breitbart News reported, Nielsen previously noted that should she be confirmed to lead DHS, she would be “ready to work” with lawmakers in passing an amnesty for DACA illegal aliens.

Breitbart News further reported that Nielsen’s nomination to head DHS has been praised by the cheap foreign labor lobby, open borders advocates, and the Washington, D.C national security establishment – which allied itself with the failed ”Never Trump” movement during the 2016 presidential election.

Breitbart News also informed on Nielsen’s involvement with the Bush administration’s response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when more than 30,000 illegal aliens and foreign workers were able to come to the U.S. to take American blue-collar jobs which those devastated by the natural disaster had hoped to get. After Hurricane Katrina, somewhere around 1.5 million American citizens were displaced by the storm as they eased of labor laws by the Bush administration.
