Line of the Night: Trump Says 26 Words at SOTU Address, Lights Entire Auditorium On Fire

Kirsters Baish| Going into yesterday evening’s State of the Union Address from President Donald Trump, we all knew that the tone of it would be unifying to our country. We are all so used to former President Barack Obama, whose entire agenda’s end goal seemed to be to divide the entire country into groups from women to whites to blacks to gays to immigrants. He purposely pitted us against each other.

Things are different now that Donald Trump is in office. His speech proved to be as eloquent and informative as we expected from our Commander in Chief. One of the most powerful lines in his speech had to do with the importance of family and trust in God.

NPR reported:

Tonight, I want to talk about what kind of future we are going to have, and what kind of a nation we are going to be. All of us, together, as one team, one people, and one American family, can do anything. We all share the same home, the same heart, the same destiny, and the same great American flag.

Together, we are rediscovering the American way. In America, we know that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the center of American life.

The motto is in God we trust.

President Trump did a wonderful job of explaining the difference between those who belong to the Conservative Party and those who belong to the Liberal Party. Conservatives are concerned about faith and family and being independent from the government. Liberal seem more concerned about convincing us that government is the answer to all of our problems.

President Trump has been a big advocate for religious liberty in our country.

The Hill reported that the Department of Justice had issued a guidance memo of October 6, 2017. The subject line of the memo read “Federal Law Protections for Religious Liberty.” This memo has very intricate and specific instruction to executive branch agencies about how they should be implementing federal law in a way that shows respect to people’s religious liberty. This guidance proves that President Trump is following up on his campaign promises. He wants to protect our religious liberties, and that is a beautiful thing.

The memo is 25 pages long. As you can imagine, it is extremely thorough and has an obvious direction on the issues at hand. It has a list of 20 principles for all of the agencies to abide by. It explains that religious rights means being able to act or not act and that religious liberty applies to both individual people as well as entities. The memo also has guidance on certain elements of agency work. These elements include hiring, rule making, and grant awarding. The ending contains a whole section which outlines constitutional and statutory protections of religious liberties.

The Hill reported:

The thoroughness is by itself significant — but there are several other reasons why Christians should celebrate this document. It represents a return to the basic principles of our Constitution, where religious liberty presides at the forefront of the Bill of Rights. The DOJ memo opens by declaring that this liberty “is … enshrined in our Constitution and other sources of federal law.” It then continues by quoting James Madison’s observation that freedom of religion “is in its nature an unalienable right,” since our devotion to God “is precedent … to the Claims of Civil Society.”
